Research Advent Day 1 - Côté (1999)

Welcome to RSRE's Research Advent calendar, a mini-series exploring popular academic research into the world of sport. Here, we will analyse the findings of the papers, translating them into actionable insights and reflective questions for practitioners.

Behind door 1 is Jean Côté's 1999 article titled, The influence of the family in the development of talent in sport. Within the paper, Côté compares sport sampling against early specialisation. Our video outlines what each model is, the optimal age-bands and how practitioners could implement the learning into their own practice environments.
